Vanguard
Vanguard was a deathcore band that combined Amon Amarth styled melodic death metal with deathcore.
They are the only band to ever play this style, as far as I know.
The bands name and logo are from a fantasy RPG called "Vanguard: Saga Of Heroes".
If anyone is aware of the material that seems go be wrapped around the spear in the image below, please let me know so I can add that to the current logo.
I thought it was a backbone, or cloth, or a scroll, but I'm not sure.

Vanguard - Dragon Slayers EP (2006)
02. Dragonslayer
03. The Dark Ages
04. Adagio
05. Legions Of Light
This was the first release by deathcore band Vanguard. It combines a "fantasy power/folk metal" feel with deathcore, giving it a truly unique atmosphere. The album is lost to history. Finding it is nearly impossible. There are no physical copies available, and it's not available digitally for retail or streaming. Searching the album on Google may turn up a VK link, but the audio is corrupted and full of glitches. The album is on YouTube, but unfortunately it uses the audio from the VK download.
It took me nearly two days of searching, but I finally found it on an obscure (and possibly outdated) metal music forum

Vanguard - Erek & Ivor (2008)
01. Incursion
03. By Night
08. Shadow Mountain
09. Lamentations
10. Merchant's Bay
12. Uncharted Waters
13. Hands Of Fate
14. Macabre
15. March Of Malus
Quite possibly the most unique deathcore album ever written, this fifteen track EPIC deathcore masterpiece featured elements of black metal, folk metal, and melodic death metal. The album tells the story of a Norseman named Erek, and his struggle after his family is brutally murdered. The album has a "viking metal" feel to it. That, combined with deathcore, creates yet another unique atmosphere and an excellent follow up to the "Dragon Slayers" EP. Like their previous release, this album is not available anywhere for purchase, download, or streaming. It is on VK with the first EP, but with corrupted audio as well. There is a YouTube stream for it, without the audio glitches. There are other individual song videos, but they seem to be made using the VK download audio. As with the "Dragon Slayers" EP, I found this album on an obscure metal music forum, after two days of searching.

Vanguard - Ivor's Return EP (2008)
01. Síđastur Orrusta
02. Árisastór Bylta
The follow-up to the bands's previous release, this EP contains the last two tracks that conclude "Erek & Ivor".
Though they were released separately, they are part of "Erek & Ivor".
"Síđastur Orrusta" is over 15 minutes and is more of an audio drama, while "Árisastór Bylta" is under 2 minutes and acts as the outro. It's a pretty heavy deathcore song.
The album art is nonexistent, and seeing as this EP closes out "Erek & Ivor", I decided to make the cover art myself. I took the original "Erek & Ivor" cover and removed the title. Then I found the font it was written in (Dorovar Carolus) and added the "Ivor's Return" title in its place.

Vanguard - Bring Hope EP (2009)
01. No Compromise
02. God Of This City
03. The Harlot's Song
04. Bring Hope
05. Home Is Where The Heart Is
02. God Of This City
03. The Harlot's Song
04. Bring Hope
05. Home Is Where The Heart Is
This was the final release by deathcore band Vanguard before changing their name to Being As An Ocean, and their genre to post-hardcore.
This album differed very much from their previous work, as it didn't make use of any melodic death, folk, or black metal elements as their previous work had, opting for a hardcore punk/metalcore infused deathcore sound instead. The EP is undeniably heavy, complete with deathcore growls, pounding riffs, and blasting breakdowns!
The album, like the rest of Vanguard's music, can't be found for purchase or streaming, though there is a YouTube stream for it, as well as a single song video for track four, "Bring Hope".
Oddly enough, the download can be found on VK (along with the other two releases), except the audio for "Bring Hope" isn't corrupted at all, unlike the other two.
