Sorrowstorm

Back in the day (so like 2014/2015, I guess) I was this cheesy teenager who liked heavy music. At the time I was especially drawn to the "boundary pushing" goregrind/grindcore bands like Vomitorial Corpulence, No Return To My Vomit, Vomitous Discharge, Swinery, Demonic Dismemberment, etc. One of the bands I listened to in passing was Encryptor, the one man grindcore project of Felipe Deiz III, who was/is also behind Sorrowstorm (which originated in the Republic Of Panama, and is currently based in the USA).
I wasn't into black metal back then so I didn't get into Sorrowstorm until later on. At that point I had sort of gotten away from death metal and into more progressive metal and black metal.
Stylistically, Sorrowstorm is "melodic black metal with progressive elements and some minor post-metal elements", completely with clean vocals.
The project went inactive for around twelve years (2009-2020) before returning in 2021, with a more prominent "prog" sound, though of you go back and listen to the old albums, it's clear that Sorrowstorm always had that prog influence, from the very first release.

The old logo is illegible at first glance, but if you compare it to the new logo the designer paid homage to the original design, but in a more legible style.

Sorrowstorm - Epoch Of Exile EP (2021)

The amazing comeback release, which was a bit on the "post/progressive" side, in a very good way.
Epoch Of Exile features three brand new songs, along with two classic remastered and reworked bonus tracks, taken from "Onward".
The EP features a melodic black metal sound, with a progressive touch and a prominent post metal influence.
Lyrically it touches on multiple subjects.
Track one focuses on the wrath of God upon the Israel's neighboring lands, which can be found in the first chapter of Amos (let it be noted that by chapter two Amos has gone through a list of the neighboring lands before turning his words towards Israel itself).
Track two is taken from Job 38, which is God's reaction to the words of Elihu, who had been lecturing Job for the previous several chapters.
