This is the seventh release by black metal band "Duister Maanlicht, or "Dark Moonlight", titled "The Dark Arts, Witchcraft And Other Servants Of Evil", or
"About Dark Arts, Witchcraft And Other Servants Of Evil".
The band wasn't an "explicitly Christian" project, though they did hold anti-pagan sentiments. As it stands, this album is a "Christian black metal" album.
This sound on this album is reminiscent of old school bands like Darkthrone and Gorgoroth but with a slower, more "atmospheric" sound.
I'm not the biggest fan of "kvlt black metal". I typically like to stick to the polished and well produced stylings of bands like Antestor, Skald In Veum, and Crimson Moonlight. Bands like Elgibbor and Duister Maanlicht have never really been on my radar in a good way....until recently, that is. When I listen to music, I want some that sound "not haphazardly thrown together". I'm not talking about mixing and mastering/producing and album to death, I'm talking about producing it to where the album sounds like it's supposed to be atmospheric, raw, and all that.
Older DM doesn't really fit that in my opinion, but 2020 brought something new (and old sounding) that I think is quite good.
Track one could start with "filthy beak" rather than "foul talk",
track three could end with "glare" rather than "glimmer",
and track six could start with "about" rather than "the".
The second cover art is just something I edited, replacing the logo.
